Halifax 1976, Hillman Avenger Car & Bus, Great Albion Street, Large Photo
Description: This is a Large 11"" inch x 8"" inch photo of a period street scene in Halifax town in 1976. A pre1963 Metro Calderdale liveried Daimler bus, Route: 577, Destination Halifax Bus Station, pulls out of Great Albion Street as it makes its turn into the old Halifax Crossfields Bus Station. The bus is fleet number 874 and registration 574CNW.
A 1975 Hillman Avenger saloon car is parked in Great Albion Street, and in the background can be seen the health clinic and St James' Court Flats, with Southowram Bank hill visible in the far distance. An original Halifax Corporation bus stop sign can be seen attached to the concrete Stanton street lamp in the mid-ground of the photograph.
An interesting look at an everyday bus station scene in the 70's.
