Interesting large legal tender coin in the pre-decimal currency in beautiful condition. The letters PM above date in Roman numerals MMIII (=2003) in exergue on Rev. are mark of Pobjoy mint. The coin is dedicated to 1700 years since the death of St. George. His cult was developed much later after his death, making him more legendary than real. For example the dragon slaying appeared 7 centuries later since his possible death. It was not him but his spirit, who overcame the dragon (the deed was posthumous). That is the reason, why this legend is a transformation of original combat of the God of the Sun with the Serpent, which takes root in rational explanation of total solar eclipse observations.
