Drawn by José Simont (1875 - 1968). Barcelona-born José Simont Guillén was an internationally admired magazine illustrator during the first half of the 20th century. He moved to Paris in 1898 where, during the First World War he produced several drawings of French soldiers, almost always highly sympathetic and sometimes quite sentimental.
