Seller's Description

CHA0123  Antique hand signed photo for Gerik Schjelderup  who was an actor, known for playing the Norwegian ship captain in the historic film The Cruel Sea (1953) and has a wealth of other screen credits including BBC Sunday-Night Theatre (1950) and The Great Manhunt (1950). He was married to Natalie Moya and died in 1985 in Germany.  This vintage photo of the German actor shows him in this most famous role as the ship captain - and Gerik has even written on the reverse of the photo that this is his best photo from the movie - it has a full hand written message from the actor on the other side too so this is double signed - There are some faults which include some indenting primarily its edge areas and some surface to allow.  Overall I grade this good plus bordering vg minus.  The signing is dated on the reverse as obtained in 1954 which would have been just after the success of The Cruel Sea making a great opportunity for any autograph collector and the signing is undedicated too (please see both images)
