George III "Cartwheel" Penny, 1797. Second copper issue, SOHO Mint (S 3776) [Copper, approx 40mm - 56.1g] (Die axis ^v).

O. GEORGIUS III D G REX, incuse on raised rim, around laureate bust, facing right.

R. BRITANNIA, incuse on raised rim, around seated figure of Britannia, facing left; date, incuse on raised rim below.

Lovely chocolate patina; digs and scratches both sides, but a very good portrait; usual edge knocks. SPINK 2023:- £100 in VF. These pieces were struck at Matthew Boulton's SOHO Mint in Birmingham.
