Joseph Jacques Césaire Joffre (1852 – 1931) was a French general who served as Commander-in-Chief of French forces on the Western Front from the start of World War I until the end of 1916. He is best known for regrouping the retreating allied armies to defeat the Germans at the strategically decisive First Battle of the Marne in September 1914.
Carlo Porro (1854 - 1939) was an Italian soldier, geographer and politician, a general who fought in the First World War and was in the Ministry of War and Minister of state under Mussolini.
Marshal of Italy Luigi Cadorna (1850 – 1928) was an Italian general, Marshal of Italy and Count, most famous for being the Chief of Staff of the Italian Army from 1914–1917 of World War I.
