Question From Mavet0 [+10793] Mon 06 May 2019 10:48:33 (BST) Hi Barbara
Good morning. This is Victor
Thompson. I am wondering if you
would have access to a post office
that sells country definitives. I was
wondering if it were possible to get
one of each of this years (2019) mint
values of £1.35 & £1.55 with the tabs
with the country Wales. I have
access to the other 3 nations. I could
send you an image of one of the
other countries if that helped to
identify it. I could pay you or
exchange other stamps whichever
suits you best.Only if it is possible for
you.
Kind regards
Victor

Answer From aberbab53 [+1309] Mon 06 May 2019 11:14:55 (BST) Hello Victor,
Thank you for your message. Unfortunately our local post office closed over a year ago. The nearest one in Bridgend usually do not stock a large range of local definitive, or commemorative stamps. More often than not they have to be pre-ordered as they usually encourage the use of labels for postage. We normally obtain these stamps by post from Edinburgh.
Kind Regards, Barbara

Question From Mavet0 [+10793] Mon 06 May 2019 15:31:19 (BST) Hi Barbara Thank you for your reply. It seems to be a common trend with post offices and sub POs. Royal mail doesn't appear to encourage stamp collecting unless it comes direct from them. I'm not sure where the new collectors are going to come from. My local one still can buy some commemoratives (two sheets only) for anyone who asks for them. They don't sell them to the general public as they get a better allowance for using labels rather than high value stamps and after a while they return the unsold ones. I suppose at the end of the day it is their decision, but there you go.
Thanks again
Victor

Answer From aberbab53 [+1309] Thu 09 May 2019 16:52:13 (BST) Hello Victor,
Yes, despite the prolific release of the commemorative issues, the actual usage of them for postal purposes appears to be limited.
Regards,
Barbara
