Original Polish 23 inch x 33 inch Poster for the 1954 Jean Renoir Drama FRENCH CAN-CAN starring Jean Gabin, Francoise Arnoul, Maria Felix, Edith Piaf, Patachou, Andre Claveau, Jean Raymond and Franco Pastorino.
This comedy drama from Jean Renoir chronicles the revival of Paris' most notorious dance as it tells the story of a theatre producer who turns a humble washerwoman into a star at the Moulin Rouge.
The poster art is by Roslav Szaybo (1933 - 2019). A Polish painter, photographer and cover designer. He graduated in 1961 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and was mentored by poster artists Wojciech Fangor and Henryk Tomaszewski. In 1966 he moved to the United Kingdom where he worked as an independent designer. Between 1968 and 1972 he worked as an art director for the advertising company Young & Rubicam..
The poster is in very good condition with one horizontal fold.
