Seller's Description

working until very recently but perhaps stored incorrectly and the vacuum has been lost so needs TLC to restore, plenty of mercury present - i don't know how to do it and would rather leave alone and leave it to an expert like yourself

any questions please ask

clearly collect in person from Worthing, West Sussex or maybe able to deliver but please ask first for estimate first

Your Fortin barometer still appears to be needing a home. Maybe it just needs a service. I have previously adopted one, got it from its leaky state to one of general happiness, except from the ups and downs whilst under pressure. The liquid scares some people due to being fed false understandings of the element. Now it's almost impossible to purchase. Maybe that's why it hasn't sold. Is there any sign of leakage like tiny droplets from the adjuster screw, or around the reservoir glass seals? Has any leakage been retained and kept in a plastic container? (If so. pour a little water onto the surface, this reduces possible exposure to vapour, which is still a low risk in these quantities). Without screwing the compensation screw too far, Is there sufficient remaining fluid to fill the tube and reservoir, whilst leaving a small airspace when tilted to almost horizontal?
