Original British 30 inch x 40 inch Quad Poster for the 1959 James Clavell Wartime Drama FIVE GATES TO HELL starring Dolores Michaels, Patricia Owens, Neville Brand, Ken Scott, Nobu McCarthy and Nancy Kulp.
In Vietnam, communist mercenaries snatch 2 doctors and 7 American nurses in this rough actioner, a personal project of writer/director Clavell, who’d been a Japanese prisoner-of-war for 5 years.
The poster artwork is by A. “Jock” W. Hinchliffe.
Hinchliffe was born in Perth, Scotland. In 1953 he had a studio in Chalk Farm, North London, where he produced a series of six oil paintings as publicity for 20th Century Fox’s “The Robe”. He had been engaged by Fox in 1926 and produced posters and ads continuously for them, and for Disney, well into the 1960s.

The poster is in good to very good folded condition. There are faint fold lines 1 1/2 inches in on all sides. There are extra fold lines close to the original fold lines. There is a 1 1/2 inch tear at the lower left corner and corner pinholes.
