Seller's Description
z13 This is a rare limited edition postcard published by Essex Police nearly 30 years ago and shows the Police achievements during the air bombings during the First World War - the reverse has a full section on the Zeppelin Raiders from the German Navy L33 and the terror Essex found itself under, including attacks on Hornchurch and Harlow and explains how it only just missed Maldon. It details how the policeman shown on the picture (Constable 354 Charles Smith) organized the public safety and the bombers capture and was promoted to Seargent that day He later became nicknamed "Zepp". This postcard dedicated to his achievements during the war is unused in mint condition.
