Seller's Description

Original 1990s Re-Release French 47 inch x 31 1/2 inch Poster for the 1955 Elia Kazan Drama EAST OF EDEN, based on the novel by John Steinbeck and starring Julie Harris, James Dean, Raymond Massey, Burl Ives, Richard Davalos, Jo Van Fleet, Lois Smith and Timothy Carey.

The intense, innocent, inarticulate Dean became a screen legend as the personification of the restless American youth of the mid-1950s in only 3 films made in just over a year before his untimely death in a car crash. After 4 bit parts in movies, he was spotted by director Kazan on Broadway and cast as the mixed-up kid Cal in this satisfying film of Steinbeck’s novel about 2 brothers fighting for their father’s love. Oscar-nominated Dean makes a startling impact, but all the acting is special - Harris, Massey and Van Fleet, who won an Oscar as the boys’ cold-hearted mother. It’s among Kazan’s finest films both visually and emotionally.

The poster is in very good folded condition.
