Seller's Description

A Driver's Eye View of Far West Cornwall, 'Porthcurno & Porthgwarra to Lands End & St Buryan' Drive around Lands End area - on DVD (DVD006)

A Driver's Eye View
Take a road trip around the Lands End area in this, the sixth in my series of real-time dvd drives, just one in a series of 'Dave's Cornwall DVD's' that feature a driver's eye view of the highways and byways of Far West Cornwall. Approximately 55 minutes of pure driving pleasure, filmed using a top quality car camera, and accompanied with gentle soothing music. See what Cornwall is really like out of season when the roads are quiet.

The Journey:
Just sit back, relax, and take in the view as we take a steady mid-winter drive from Porthcurno, where we take in some breathtaking coastal views before we set off from the Minack Theatre car park and take a drive up through Porthcurno, then take a left through the hamlet of Trethewey, before taking the next left turning as we head down the narrow country lane towards Porthgwarra. First we pass through the farmyard as we navigate the muddy lane and take the sharp bend where the valley and Porthgwarra come into view. Descending the valley, we pass the old phone box and pull into the empty car park at Porthgwarra, where we go for a stroll for a few minutes and take in the tranquility of the cove, the rocks and the gentle high tide at Porthgwarra.

From Porthgwarra we head back up the valley lane from where we arrived, pass through the farmyard and the mud soaked lane and make our way up to the junction where we turn left onto the B3315, driving past the village pond and being careful as we pass the ducks by the roadside and make our way to the hamlet of Trevescan, where we pass the Cherry Tree Cafe and turn left onto the A30, driving down to Lands End and parking up in the car park.

At Lands End we take a 10 minute walk where we view the breathtaking dramatic coastal scenery and see the very early signs of springtime in the beautiful hardy cliff top flowers that are blooming in the Atlantic winds. Then after our 10 minute walk, we leave Lands End and drive up the A30, through Sennen, past the First & Last pub and Mayon Garage, where we follow a now defunct 'Western Greyhound bus as it does the Lands End to Penzance route. We follow close behind the bus from Sennen School, up through Crows An Wra, then taking the right turning, through the barren country lanes all the way to the village of St Buryan, where we park up just before dark and watch the bus set off on it's journey to Penzance, after we have had a quick word with the bus driver.

Experience West Cornwall:
In this DVD you will experience far West Cornwall on a late-winter's late afternoon, when the skies are dark and overcast, the roads are quiet, and dusk fast approaches as the afternoon quickly heads towards the cold evening. The trees are bare and the occasional crow takes flight from the winter hedgerow. The stark beauty and tranquility of the Lands End Peninsula when the days are at their shortest and everyday life moves at it's own pace. A lovely 1 hour sojourn away from the humdrum of the city.

The Disc:
The dvd is both PAL (Europe) and NTSC (USA) region, so it doesn't matter where in the world you come from, it will play in any stand alone DVD player with your TV set, or on a computer. Complete with chapter points in the film so that you can navigate to specific areas of the tour by using the forward and reverse arrows on your remote control if you wish.

Packaging:
The dvd comes in a simple envelope, no bulky box or case, so all costs are kept to a minimum.
