Interesting coin with capital of ancient column in attractive condition struck in Utrecht. Recently with the help of this coin it became possible to distinguish the mints in 5757 (1997).
Obverse
Type A - the first alif 'ا' in 'إسرائيل' higher than corner.
Type B - the first alif 'ا' in 'إسرائيل' lower than corner, all details thick.
Type C - the first alif 'ا' in 'إسرائيل' lower than corner, all details thinner.
Type D - the first alif 'ا' in 'إسرائيل' to corner.
Type E - the first alif 'ا' with hamza 'ء' in 'إسرائيل' and points to corner.
This coin is attributed as struck by die C with rounded edge. Standard Catalog of World Coins mentioned that rounded edge was produced in 5759 at Utrecht mint. The coins of 5759 were struck by die C, that is the same as this coin and this die was not found in production of any other year. This brings to the conclusion:
5757:
Obv. Die B, Edge 12-sided Mint: Vantaa.
Obv. Die C, Edge rounded 12-sided Mint: Utrecht.
The discovery is to be published in the Numista catalog en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces3327.html with the images of this very coin to update the classification of the emission. Most probably it is the first case in the coinage history of the territory, when mints can be distinguished by coins themselves.
