Denis Diedro (1713-1784), French writer, philosopher-educator and playwright who founded the Encyclopedia or Dictionary of Science, Arts and Crafts (1751). Foreign honorary member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1773). Together with Voltaire, Rousseau, Montesquieu, DAlamber, and other encyclopedists, Diedro was an ideologist of the third estate and creator of the Enlightenment Age ideas that prepared minds for the Great French Revolution.
