Original Swiss 17 3/4 inch x 25 1/4 inch Poster for the 1973 Thomas Koerfer Drama DEATH OF THE FLEA CIRCUS DIRECTOR (DER TOD DES FLOHZIRKUSDIREKTORS) starring Francois Simon, Paul Gogel, Norbert Schwientek, Janine Weill and Gothard Dietrich.
Ottocaro Weiss (Francois Simon) runs a flea circus, ably aided by his assistant, Anja (Janine Weill). After insecticide is used in the area, Ottocaro's precious fleas die off, and he must come up with another production. The eccentric director decides to create a performance about the Black Plague using real rats. When Johannes Wagner (Paul Gogel), a wealthy man with sinister ideas, hears of Ottocaro's production, he schemes to actually spread the illness.
