One of the great romantic classics of the Thirties. Vivien Leigh is Allied double agent Madeleine Goddard, who is suspected of passing secrets to the French. The Germans send Chief of Intelligence, Baron Karl Von Marwitz (Conrad Veidt) to catch her, only to find the two fall hopelessly in love. They are led inexorably towards the moment when each must choose between love for each other, and love of their country.
