Original British 30 inch x 40 inch Double Bill Quad Poster for the 1970 Ossie Davis Thriller COTTON COMES TO HARLEM, based on the novel by Chester Himes and starring Godfrey Cambridge, Raymond St. Jacques and Calvin Lockhart AND the 1970 Rodney Amateau Comedy PUSSYCAT, PUSSYCAT, I LOVE YOU, screenplay by Woody Allen and starring Ian McShane, Anna Calder-Marshall and John Gavin.
Two Harlem detectives are assigned by the NYPD to recover $87,000 of poor black families life savings, which have been stolen in a Back to Africa swindle; the money is concealed in a bale of cotton, which keeps changing hands.
Cotton Comes to Harlem art by Robert Edward McGinnis. McGinnis is an American artist and illustrator born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1926. McGinnis is known for his illustrations of more than 1,200 paperback book covers, and over 40 movie posters, including Breakfast at Tiffany's (his first film poster assignment), Barbarella, and several James Bond and Matt Helm films.
