Seller's Description
Standard Silver Company operated in Toronto from 1893-1925, the company was founded in 1893, succeeded the Acme Silver Company and was merged with International Silver in 1912.
Shown is piece #815, without the knife or fork that rested in the slots on the side. While a good polishing or replating might seem essential, we've found purists prefer these heirlooms from the past be left untouched. The filigree work and craftsmanship is apparent and to be appreciated, as the Standard Silver name is not often found.
Of course, there are a few small dents and light scratches but the fittings are secure. We believe the center tray hole was to accommodate the dripping of melting ice into the bowl below. This kept the butter form, or pats, chilled yet dry.
