Original British 20 inch x 30 inch Double Crown Poster for 1950s CHILDRENS HOLIDAY MATINEES.
Poster art by Eric W. Pulford Eric Pulford was born on August 8th 1915. Having taken life classes at Leeds College of Art for 5 years he was apprenticed as a commercial artist in 1931 to Gilchrist Bros a process house of 24 staff. A colleague at the company called Whitchurch moved to Leicester to open his own studio and asked Pulford to do some freelance work for him. Whitchurch’s partner was working for the Rank Organization but was called up for National Service so Pulford stepped in to do some finished art from rough poster designs. In 1943 Rank invited Pulford to start a publicity department for them in London resulting in posters for ‘Henry V’, ‘Odd Man Out’ etc. This is a rare poster from this early period.
The poster is in fine unfolded (rolled) condition.
