Printed colour postcard showing Chief Black Chicken of the Yankton Dakota, a division of the Great Sioux Nation, used as an example of the Two-Colour Block printing process of Shackell, Edwards & Co Ltd of 5 Red Lion Passage, Fleet Street, London EC whereby the full colour image is economically produced by using only two colour blocks on yellow paper. The blocks themselves were manufactured by John Swain & Sons Ltd and the Costed Boards were supplied by John Dickinson & Co Ltd of Kings Langley in Hertfordshire. The original three-colour postcard of Chief Black Chicken was produced in c.1907 by Raphael Tuck & Sons of London and was reproduced with their permission.
