Seller's Description

Original 1821 11 inch x 8 inch Hand-Coloured Engraving titled CHEPSTOW CASTLE, Monmouthshire

Engraved by Thomas Sutherland (active 1785 - 1825). Engraver and aquatinter.
From a picture by Anthony Vandyke Copley Fielding (1787 - 1855). Fielding was from a family of artists. He was named after the Flemish Baroque painter Anthony van Dyck. He specialised in large-scale watercolours, working closely with his father Nathan Fielding. He exhibited for the first time at the Society of Painters in Water-Colours in 1810. His watercolours remained popular with purchasers for the rest of his life and during his career he exhibited over 1700 landscape and marine scenes.

Published by T. Clay, 18 Ludgate Hill, London

The engraving is in very good condition.
