Original British 40 inch x 81 inch 3-Sheet Poster for the 1958 Lewis Gilbert War Film CARVE HER NAME WITH PRIDE starring Virginia McKenna as Violette Szabo, Paul Scofield, Jack Warner, Sidney Tafler, Avice Landone, Maurice Ronet, Noel Willman, Bill Owen, Billie Whitelaw, William Mervyn, Michael Goodliffe, Michael Caine and Nigel Hawthorne.
Carve Her Name With Pride tells the true story of Violette Szabo, who was recruited to the Special Operations Executive (SOE) and was executed by the Germans at the age of 23 for spying for the Allied forces during WWII. Her feats were recognised when she was posthumously awarded the George Cross in 1946, the second woman to receive the honour. Odette Hallowes, the first, acted as technical adviser on the film and worked particularly closely with Virginia McKenna, who played Violette.
