CARD CONDITION

ALBUM MARKS: None
EDGES: Fine
CORNERS: Light rubbing to three, the other with light creasing
IMAGE SURFACE: Minor/light surface marks/grubiness
REVERSE SIDE: Fine
OTHER OBSERVATIONS: The message on the reverse side is quite unusual.....
"Dear Sir. Please will you send your man to 22 Czar Street, Deptford - there is escape of gas. Yours truly, Mr. D. Griffin.
The sender of the card was probably a David Giffin, believed to be a Dock Labourer.
Fascinatingly, the card was franked/timed 11.15 PM .
The card was received/dated on the reverse by the Gas Company, 23rd August 1916.
Did their man get there in time..........?!!
