Original 10 inch x 8 inch Black and White Portrait of PETER GAWTHORNE in the 1934 Tim Whelan Comedy THE CAMELS ARE COMING, based on a story by Tim Whelan.
A British officer in Egypt masquerades as a sheik to bring a ring of drug smugglers to justice.
Peter Gawthorne was a stocky, silver-maned Irish character actor with long stage experience from 1906. In films he was most often seen playing stern, often volatile or pompous authority figures. He was a comic foil to Will Hay and other comedians during the 1930's and 40's.
The portrait is in very good condition.
