Original 9 3/4 inch x 7 7/8 inch Still of CELIA JOHNSON & CYRIL RAYMOND in the 1945 David Lean Romantic Drama BRIEF ENCOUNTER, based on the one-act play “Still Life” by Noël Coward.
After a chance meeting on a train platform, a married doctor Alec (Trevor Howard) and a suburban housewife Laura (Celia Johnson) begin a muted but passionate, and ultimately doomed, love affair. Cyril Raymond is quite splendid as Laura's husband, Fred, a decent dullard who senses that his wife has "been away" but cannot dream of what she has been up to or how close they have all come to disaster.
The still is in very good condition with minor surface marks and a brief synopsis tacked to the reverse.
