This item: A very RARE original Hammer Films contract for a work entitled 'The Blood of the Legion' written by Peter Bryan who worked for Hammer in various capacities such as a camera operator, producer / director of some shorts and later as a writer involved in Plague of the Zombies, The Brides of Dracula, A Challenge For Robin Hood etc. This contract is for an unwritten screenplay for which he would be paid for an outline story and thereafter, if produced, a more substantial fee to include re-writes etc. A fascinating insight into Hammer's approach to a possible movie. The title would later be altered slightly to The Blood of the Foreign Legion (See Last Bus To Bray Vol. 1 page 66 for reference and further detail). This was never filmed by Hammer, even though some pre-production preparation was undertaken including artwork and more detailed story treatment. This is a complete contract with grey card covers and 11 interior pages setting out much detail, including the fees payable to Peter Bryan (interesting to see what Hammer did pay for screenplays in the early 1960s). The contract has been signed by the late Peter Bryan (1919 - 1972) and for Hammer the late Anthony Hinds (1922 - 2013). Peter Bryan is a rare signature for the Hammer collector. A great item for the collector. Very Rare
