Original 1958 Polish 23 inch x 33 inch Poster for the 1953 Daniel Birt Drama BACKGROUND, based on the play by Warren Chetham Strode and starring Valerie Hobson, Philip Friend, Norman Wooland, Janette Scott, Mandy Miller, Jeremy Spenser, Lily Kann, Thora Hird, Richard Wattis, Joss Ambler and Lloyd Lamble.

In post-war London, upper-middle class barrister John Lomax and his wife Barbie decide after several years of constant bickering to divorce. They underestimate the effect of their announcement on their three children, who assume that family friend Bill Ogden (Wooland) is to blame.

Poster art by Eryk Lipinski (1908 - 1991). Eryk Lipinski was a Polish artist, satirist, caricaturist, essayist, he has designed posters, written plays and sketches for cabarets, as well as written books on related subjects.

The poster is in good to very good condition with a piece out of the right edge just at Mandy Miller’s shoulder. The poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.
