SOFT POCKETS
Small 7½” x 4½”, Medium 9½” x 6”, Large 13” x 9½”
Two bags in one!!! Soft Pockets have two separate compartments. One side, for your technology, is free of zipper that might scratch while the flip side is perfect for other essentials.
Small pockets will fit a cellphone, medium - an electronic reader, large pockets - a tablet
FABRIC Use good quality cotton. Bali Pops™ are wonderful for this project.
BAG BODY – 2½” strips cut the width of fabric generally 42/ 44”
Small - 6 strips (½ yard); Medium - 10 strips (¾ yard); Large - 21 strips (1½ yard).
BINDING, POCKETS AND HANDLES - ½ yard
Felted wool also works well with this project. Use wool for the Bag Body strips only. Use coordinating cotton fabric for binding, pockets and handles. No batting is needed.
Felted wool pockets are slightly wider than cotton/batting pockets.
Wool strips needed: Small - 24 – 2½” x 12”; Medium – 30 - 2½” x 15”; Large - 42 - 2½” x 22”
BATTING Use medium weight batting 45” wide 1½ yards
MATCHING COTTON THREAD
This project uses a lot of thread. Before beginning, pre-fill 2 bobbins. Use a 50-weight 2-piy thread
FUSIBLE WEB ½ yard
BUTTONS
Six 1” buttons (or more for a layered look)
Four MAGNETIC BUTTONS by Bohin
ZIPPER Medium and Large only Medium - 9” Large - 12”
Other Tools: Sewing Machine with a good zigzag stitch, sewing machine needles - Microtex 90/14 (for straight stitching) and Jean’s or Denim 110/18 (for zigzag stitching). Scissors (both large and small), rotary mat, 60mm rotary cutter, acrylic rulers, chalk, seam ripper, hand sewing needles, measuring tape. Design or foam core board (16”x 20”)
