BREEZY WEAVE BAGS
Large 9½” High X 13” Wide X 5½” Deep (24.1 X 33 X 14 cm)
Small 7½” High X 9½” Wide X 5½” Deep (19 X 24.1 X 14 cm)
Weave fabric strips filled with stiff interfacing to create fun bags for just about anywhere you may be headed!
Consider using one fabric, color or shade (dark or light) for the vertical strips and a contrasting fabric or color for the horizontal strips.
Hoffman CA Fabrics’ Bali Pops™, which contain individual batik strips, work perfectly with this project.
MATERIALS
FABRIC
For the woven strips
Use 2½” strips cut the full width of the fabric (WOF) generally 44”
SMALL BAG:
Vertical - ½ yard or five strips 2½” x WOF
Horizontal - ½ yard or six strips 2½” x WOF
LARGE BAG:
Vertical -1 yard or fourteen strips 2½” x WOF
Horizontal - 1 yard or thirteen strips 2½” x WOF
For the binding, handles, gusset and pockets - 1 yard
STIFF INTERFACING
Try Rigid Weave by Innovative Craft Products (innovative-crafts.com) Available in 1 ¾” x 10 yd rolls
One roll per bag or 1¾ yards of other stiff interfacing
FUSIBLE BATTING for Pockets and Gussets -½ yard per bag
1/4” COTTON UPHOLSTERY PIPING for Handles - 5 yards per bag
ONE MAGNETIC CLOSURE per bag
Other Tools: Matching thread, sewing machine, scissors (both large and small), a tube turning tool (like Quick Turn by Dritz), pins, rotary mat and cutter, acrylic rulers, seam ripper, chalk and measuring tape
