Aria is a 1987 British anthology film consisting of ten short films by a variety of directors. It was entered into the 1987 Cannes Film Festival. Each segment features its director's visual accompaniment to arias and scenes from operas. Each film has minimal dialogue (most have none at all), with most of the spoken content being the operas' lyrics (libretto) in Italian, French, or German.

Poster design by Richard Bird (1948 - 1993). Born in Kenya in 1948 Bird studied at the Brighton College of Art in 1968 and in the mid-1980s he set up his own consultancy, taking on a wide variety of work for film and theatre. Among the posters he produced for the cinema were Jack Clayton's The Passion of Judith Hearne, John Schlesinger's The Falcon and the Snowman and Charles Sturridge's A Handful of Dust.
