Seller's Description
A Rare, Antique
Liquid Filled
Prismatic
Pocket Marching Compass
In Sturdy Leather Case
"Creagh-Osborn Compass
Pat Applied For No1753
H.Hughes & Son Ltd - London"
The item was the personal property of Wilfred Parkinson Of The Royal Engineers. His name is inscribed onto the underside of the compass and his initials appear on the hard leather case.
The Creagh-Osborn Compass was awarded a patent (as far as I am aware) around 1915, so this item predates 1915.
The item measures approx, 68mm in diameter (not including suspension loop or prism housing) and 27mm high, when closed.
The item is in a very good general condition, is still liquid filled and is working.
The minute markings on the compass card have typically faded.
