This sale is for a very rare, 1920, miniature edition of the book, "Gems from Longfellow", by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow containing a selection of Longfellow's poems. This book was printed by Collins Clear-Type Press and was printed in either London or Glasgow. The design is a softback, bound in soft brown leather with a gilt picture on the front cover and gilt writing on the spine. 

Very rare. When looking for details, I was only able to find one other copy that was similar (the 1920 age was based on that copy).

The overall condition of the book is excellent, especially when considering the age. Please see "Physical Condition" below for full details and the advert pictures.

On the second blank page, there are three heart warming dedications which show that the book was passed down within the family that owned it for three generations.

"L.R Wasdell. 1931"

"Miss G.E. Rodwell in memory of L.R. Wasdell."

"Mrs. G.E Hopkins passed to her daughter Mrs M.V.L. Bowie in memory of Mr V.H.F. Hopkins 8/4/72."

I personally think this adds something to this copy as it shows just how well loved and cared for this book was.

Binding:- Overall Excellent condition. The binding is tight with no loose pages.

Pages:- All present, none missing.

Condition of Pages:- Excellent condition. There are three, heart warming dedications on the second blank page at the front of the book. 1) "L.R Wasdell. 1931" in pencil. 2) "Miss G.E. Rodwell in memory of L.R. Wasdell." with a fountain pen. 3) "Mrs. G.E Hopkins passed to her daughter Mrs M.V.L. Bowie in memory of Mr V.H.F. Hopkins 8/4/72." with a pen. No marks, no tears. Some slight foxing.

Spine:- Excellent condition though there is some wear and tear at the top and bottom of the spine (please see the pictures).

Front & Rear Cover:- Excellent condition (please see the pictures).
