I sell online in high-end shops and websites and pre-Covid used to attend trade fairs around the globe.  I have a huge stock of "bargain basement" items which were great at fairs for inexpensive extras.  I also have a massive stock of highly valuable and collectable items never seen before on the internet.

I find it heart-breaking that brooches such as this no longer seem to have the appeal they once did as they are one of the most versatile pieces of jewellery you could have.
High quality brooches like this are a joy to behold and will make you feel like royalty.

ABOUT THIS BROOCH
Constructed from solid 9ct gold (375 parts per 1000)
Fully assay marked in the far east and x-ray tested.
Dates to middle of the 19th Century (c1870s)
Features a highly detailed raised target design with excellent gold work.
Almost certainly a colonial made brooch most likely for the wife of a military leader, when the UK had colonies and meant something in this big old world.
Fastens with a steel hinge pin and C hook clasp - all in good order.
Condition is very good, especially considering its age.

Length is 32.5mm.
Width is 20.5 mm.
It sits 10.5 mm proud.
Weight is under 5 grams (I don't sell items of this quality by weight anyways)

You would expect to pay between £450 and £750 for a brooch like this at a fancy antique jeweller, depending on your ability to hunt down a bargain.

CONDITION REPORT
Many of my brooches are VERY old and have some signs of this.  I ensure they are fully operational and can be worn from arrival but I do not like polishing them to "as new" because I feel this detracts from their history.  I will consider doing so, for a small fee, if you ask nicely ;-)
