Seller's Description
GREAT BRITISH MOTOR CYCLES OF THE SIXTIES. Bob Currie - Motor Cycle Weekly.
This book surveys a cross-section of outstanding motor cycles from the decade when the British industry was slipping towards near-extinction. It includes contemporary road tests exactly as they were published in the journal MOTOR CYCLE, and an enlightened profile of each machine by leading motor cycle historian Bob Currie.
The road tests reflect authoritative assessments of machines in their time, while the commentaries recall them in perspective, re-evaluating developments as well as recalling basic design features - and failings - and recording the ultimate fate of famous companies as well as their individual models.
The bikes covered represent the once-famous marques - AJS, Ariel, BSA, Norton, Royal Enfield, Triumph, Velocette and others - and range from straightforward ride-to-work machines toout-and-out sports models.
Each chapter includes a data panel, and is illustrated with a colour portrait, photographs as they appeared in MOTOR CYCLE reports of the time, drawings and photographs of variants.
