Seller's Description
THE STAFFORDSHIRE LANDSCAPE by D.M. Palliser.
Many travellers pass through Staffordshire on the A5, the M6, or the Euston-Crewe railway line, but they do not see this little-known country at its best. Staffordshire has many attractions for the visitor who knows what to look for, including much remote and peaceful countryside. The landscape varies from the river valleys of the Trent basin to the fertile Needwood plateau, the heathands of Cannock Chase, and the beautiful Moorlands, which are often mistakenly included with the Derbyshire Peak District. The towns are equally varied, from the charming Georgian city of Lichfield - with only only English cathedral still possessing its three spires - to the great conurbations of Black Country and Potteries full of interest for the industrial arcaeologist.
A VINTAGE hardback published by Hodder & Stoughton as part of their THE MAKING OF THE ENGLISH LANDSCAPE series.
