Seller's Description

GAUDI COLLAGE Jigsaw Puzzle
1500 Piece - Measures: 85 x 60 cm
Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926) was born in Reus(Tarragona, Spain) and became a leader of Catalan modernism, a current inspired in the ARTS AND CRAFTS movement, proposing the recovery of craftwork and the applied arts. from his childhood Gaudi was a devoted obsever of nature, attracted by the forms, colours and geometry. In 1868 he moved to Barcelona, where he graduated as an architect in 1878. The ecclesiastical and bourgeois world, among whom was the notable industrialist Eusebi Guell, were his biggest clients and they commissioned him to design the buildings that were to become his most outstanding works. after his death in 1926, run over by a tram, Gaudi and his works passed through a period of oblivion, unrtil avant-garde currents and the international ovement rediscovered them, presenting them as a fine example of modernisation and renovation of 20th century architecture.
Gaudi's works, with their strength and creativity, form part of our environment and like all natural elements, which he somuch admired, they continue being transformed, developing and even growing like a living work, as in the case of the Sagrada Familia. But Gaudi's works were not always well understood. At various times there were many criticisms and some of the buildings, such as LAPEDRERA, suffered all kinds of attacks, up to the point of appearing in cartoons n the press. There were also times in which his style was considered overdone and merely decorative, but time has helped to put things in their place and his works, such as the EPISCOPAL PALACE  in Astorga, LA PEDRERA  and PARK GUELL in Barcelona, were added by UNESCO to their World Heritage list in 1984.
