IBG Models 1/72 Type 4 Ke-Nu
Japanese Light Tank

New, sealed and unbuilt.

The Ke-Nu was based on the Type 95 Ha-Go chassis with a larger Type 97 Chi-Ha turret added. Following the disappointing results of the Chi-Ha's original 57mm gun it was repalced with a high velocity 47mm. The old 57mm guns were used to create the Ke-Nu light tank. This gave the Ke-Nu increased firepower compared with the Ha-Go but an extra ton in weight which reduced its top speed to 40kph. Unfortunately the design did nothing to improve the already weak armour protection of the Ha-Go with only 25mm of armour it was an easy target for the allied 37mm, 75mm and 2 Pounder guns.
The Ke-Nu appeared around 1944 with around 100 produced. Most were held back on the Japanese home islands for defence against the expected American invasion although some did see service in Manchuria against Soviet forces in 1945.
Whether for wargaming or just building for display this brand new kit is a beauty. Not to be missed.
