(617 squadron Operation Chastise 17 May 1943) - The 70th Anniversary Edition
Operation Chastise was the official name for the attacks on German dams on 17 may 1943 in the Second world war using a specially dfeveloped 'bouncing bomb'. The attack was carried out by 617 squadron RAF, specially formed for this unique and highly dangerous mission. The Mohne and Eder dams were breached in these attacks, causing a catastrophic flooding of the Ruhr vally, while the Sorpe dam sustained minor damage. The squadron subsequently became known as the legendary Dambusters.
This Airfix model has 265 pieces, measures 294 mm long and 432 wide (once completed) and comes with cement and paints.
The kit is still factory-sealed and has never been opened.
