Seller's Description
WORLD'S MOST DIFFICULT JIGSAW PUZZLES: DEVIL'S DILEMMA
Only 529 Double-Sided Pieces - Seems Like 4000 ./ Measures 15" x 15"
Legend of the Devil's Dilemma - Legend has it that long ago the Devil appeared on earth and presented himself to a virtuous maiden who served and cared for a family of three unicorns. The Devil hreatened to destroy the tiniest unicorn unless the virgin agreed to his terms,. He was bargaining for the young girl's soul and of course her virtue as well. The devil proposed a test. if he could solve a puzzle in one day or less, the soul of the maiden would belong to him. If, however, the sun rose and the puzzle was unsolved the devil would depart for the underworld and leave the baby unicorn alone.
If he failed the test, the maiden's honour, virtue, and integrity would be safe orevert. Not willing to risk a fair contest, however, old Beelzebub contrived a puzzle with which he was quite familiar, unknown to the maiden, of course. The father unicorn, the wisest of the creatures, discovered the plot and substituted a puzzle known as the Devil's Dilemma.Luicifer fumed and steamed but could not solve the puzzle by sunup.
This painting portrays the Devil's Dilemma as a jigsaw puzzle and is itself the subject of one of the most fascinating, diabolical, and difficult puzzles of all time.
The World's Most Difficult Jigsaw Puzzle - What makes it so difficult? Most jigsaw puzzles have a picture on one side only, this puzzle has a picture on both sides, rotated ninety degrees from each other, and it's the same picture!
That's very difficult, but it's only half the story! All other regular jigsaw puzzles have vertical interlocking lines all cut from the same side so that it is immediately obvious which is the top. this puzzle has the vertical interlocking lines cut from one side and equally spaced horizontal interlocking lines cut from the other side. it's impossible to distinguished one side from the other. Each piece must be compared on both sides for size, shape, and colour.
