THE BEANO & THE DANDY Jigsaw Puzzle.

Launched on 4th December 1937, THE DANDY was an immediate success and its companion, THE BEANO followed on 30th July 1938.

Big Eggo, the ostrich that would eat anything and everything was on the cover of the very first issue of THE BEANO until he was knocked off his perch by Biffo the Bear in 1948, who was in turn ousted by Dennis the Menace in 1974.

Dennis the Menace first appeared in March 1951 although we didn't see him in his famous red and black jersey until two months later!

Minnie the Minx nd Roger the Dodger made their debuts two years later in 1953, and the Bash street Kids, originally known as 'When the Bell Rings', followed in 1954.0

Desperate Dan ate his first cow pie in 1939 and only he has appeared in every issue of THE DANDY.

None of the pre-1965 BEANO and DANDY annuals were actually dated! The first DANDY book appeared in Autumn 1938 entitled THE DANDY MONSTER COMIC, followed a year later by the BEANO BOOK.

In December 2002, a rare copy of the first issue of THE BEANO fetched £7,500 at auction, making it the most expensive British comic sold!
