At the onset of the 1930s, a new concept emerged for a high-speed bomber that could surpass contemporary fighters. One such embodiment was the German Junkers Flugzeug - und Motorenwerke AG's twin-engine bomber, the Ju 88. From the spring of 1941, the company produced the Ju 88A-4, equipped with liquid-cooled Jumo 211J engines for increased power and a more robust arsenal. These planes, known as Ju 88A-4/Torp, were armed with two LT F5b torpedoes and utilized in anti-shipping operations over the Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea between 1941 and 1944.
