For the second year running, lower league York City were drawn at home to the then all-conquering Liverpool in the FA Cup 5th Round. And for the second year running, they held the mighty Reds to a surprise 1-1 draw. Liverpool would win the replay 3-1 and would go on to win the FA Cup for only the 3rd time, but this year in doing so they completed the League and FA Cup Double.
