Seller's Description
Vintage 1970’s Cardboard Treadwheel Model from the Weald and Downland Living Museum at Singleton
- Size: 11.6cm wide x 9.5cm tall x 14cm tall
- Weight: 18g
- Era: Late 1970’s
- Condition: Used, painted in water colour, the door has been cut so that it opens, and one side of the roof is warped and a corner near the bottom left of the door is detached and needs regluing. Examine the images very carefully for a full appreciation of the condition.
- Comments: The Open-Air museum at Singleton, Chichester, UK, is one of the best open-air museums in the UK and its buildings have featured in many documentaries and movies. This is a card board model of a Treadwheel, originally from Catherington that was bought from thee museum’s souvenir shop in the late 1970’s. It has been glued together, subsequently painted and the door turned into a functioning door. I have not been able to find anything similar on-line and have no idea if they still sell these in the museum, so it might be quite rare as built cardboard models suffer with age. Hopefully the new owner maybe able to refurbish this and take out some of the warping in the roof, perhaps by attaching the parts to stiffer cardboard as a backing support?
- The last image included in the set of images is a 3D anaglyph. To view the can in 3D put on red and green glasses with the red filter over the left eye and the blue/green filter over the right eye. Sometime it helps to view the screen in a dark room with curtains drawn so as to minimize screen reflections.
