Description:

Offered here is a very rare 1940 Lincoln K model 417-A two-window Berline by Judkins.  This car's chassis bears the Lincoln factory production number 9440, indicating that it is one of the final units produced in 1939 and twenty numbers away from the last one produced.  FDR's famous Sunshine Special bears a number only three numbers from this car.  More significantly, it is one of only 133 Lincoln K's produced in the final year of the models construction.  The storied coach-building firm of Judkins located in Amesbury, MA, fitted its custom aluminum two-window Berline body to the chassis.  Significantly, Judkins only fitted two bodies of this style to Lincoln chassis in 1939, and the car offered here is the second of the two produced.  The Henry Ford Museum has verified that the first of these carries the motor #K9604 and body #12899, while the car offered here carries the motor #K9652 and body #12933.  Not only is this the last custom-built two-window Berline produced by Judkins, but it is the LAST CUSTOM BODY constructed by Judkins!  After this, the famed coach-builder ceased auto body production.
The Lincoln offered here contains its original interior (except for the fabric on the front seat cushion), including divider window, rear compartment footrests, lap robe, carpet and headliner.  The material is in overall very good condition  The original 414 cu. in. V12 engine runs strong and has been well maintained, although the original 6-volt electrical system has been upgraded to 12-volt.  Additionally, an electric fan has been installed in place of the original, and an after-market temperature gauge has been installed under the dashboard.  The brakes stop the car without any problem.  The lacquer paint was redone in 1980 and is in fine condition, as are the chrome trim, greyhound hood ornament and running board rubber.  The original leather roof is in pristine condition.
The car is located in St. Clair, PA, approximately 95 miles northwest of Philadelphia. Car has a clear title.  Buyer is responsible for pick-up or shipment of the vehicle.
