It has label with the following information: "This book is supplied by John King & Son, of 12, Albert Street, Manchester, Being specially prepared for Subscription, this edition is not obtainable through the general Booksellers".  It has 12 pages giving information about the Editors and some of the Authors, The Object of the Work, A Short Synopsis of the First Volume, Its Illustrations and Maps, An Offer to Early Subscribers, etc.  It then has the first 63 pages of Volume I.  Inside the back cover is a fold-out flap with samples of the spines of the finished four volumes.  Cover is a little grubby and there is name written inside the front cover, otherwise good condition.
