"I, Jean Martin, of Chalet Elisabeth, Avenue des Casernes, Gnasse (Alpes Maritimes), France, Merchant, do hereby declare the nature of this invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement: Thie object of the present invention is to construct a buckle stirrup bar combined in such a way that when the rider falls from his horse and his foot remains in the stirrup, the stirrup leather becomes detached from the saddle by the weight alone of the rider..."
