"I, Joseph Ramsperger, Manufacturer of 4 Wachterstrasse, in the City of Stuttgart, in the Kingdom of Wrutemberg, German Empire, do hereby declare the nature of this invention to be as follows: This present invention relates to a key changing or transposing device for keyed instruments, especially for pianos of all kinds, whether strung vertically, obliquely, or across. The essential feature of this invention is that there is arranged below the playing key board a supplementary key board, which is connected with the hammer mechanism..."
