"I, James Cresswell of 21 Shepley Street, Hyde, in the County of Chester, Machine Joiner, do hereby declare the nature of this invention to be as follows: My improvements refer chiefly to the lathes or sleys of calico and similar looms, and have for their object to strengthen the top of the lathe or sley and prevent its warping, and also to prevent the vibration or working loose of the reed by the grooves into which it fits..."
