"We, Thomas Haslam of 189, Rice Lane, Walton, near Liverpool, in the County of Lancaster, and Peter Mawdsley, of New Street, Halsall, near Ormskirk, in the said County, Engineer, do hereby declare the nature of this invention to be as follows: Our invention of improvements in apparatus or machines for topping, digging, raising and screening or sieving potatoes and other like root crops consists in arranging or combining in a suitable framework, and mounted on wheels for drawing along the drills or ridges, the following series of parts..."
